2 Years Anniversary of UK Israel Tech Hub

This week I attended the second anniversary of UKIsraelHub, which took place at the residence of the British Ambassador. Here are a couple of interesting aspects (surely not mentioned by the official publications).

- The Ambassador's speech. A good part of it was delivered in Hebrew. It's so natural to expect from ambassadors at least some proficiency in the language of the country where they are sent to, but very often reality differs from the expectations. On the other had many English speakers enjoy their beneficial situation of been understood almost everywhere in the world. This case was a pleasant surprise, to the honour of the Ambassador.

- The garden where the event was held had 3 areas: central, left and right. The right one was the closest to the tribune and had the bar. The central was just across the entrance. The left one was a bit lower (2-3 steps) and had a coffee bar. Most of the guests filled the central and the right areas, while the left one remained empty almost all of the time, even before and after the speeches, so I guess the tribune location and visibility was of less importance in this case. Did the bar location matter?

- The dogs. Poor things! The both of them surely felt the duty to be present among the guests but at the same time they tried to secure their toys somewhere deep in the bushes or in the grass, but no hiding place seemed good enough for them.

- The dress code was mentioned in invitation as "business casual". It was amazing to see how differently people understood it or neglected it. When it goes about dress codes in Israel you can never know which of the lacks is stronger: of care or of knowledge.

- Style, design and planning of the event and the place were just perfect. I realise it should be this way always, still it's very worth to mention and to thank the organisers and the hosts. I am happy I had the chance to say my thanks to the Ambassador and his wife.
