Victorian London

Was just swept away by Liza Picard's "Victorian London".

Such an incredible leap in all the spheres imaginable: healthcare, education, industry, architecture, science, job creation and business promotion, support for middle class, social rights. Today you can see and touch, use and enjoy the fruit of Victoria and Albert's efforts. The beauty and usability of the things created at that time deserve a separate topic.

Do the British realize how grateful they have to be to that royal couple for pushing their country so far forward so that many countries even three thousand miles away could not catch up with them till now? That's surely a rhetorical question. In their traditional approaches the Brits got used to accept, digest and enjoy the benefits brought by aliens starting with the Romans who gave them Londinium and the roads to it to Albert who made London shine and smell good.
